A NEED FOR MENTORS in creative writing, poetry, visual art, video/photography. Need to have a passion for the arts and working with the youth. Be open for most Saturdays from June 15th to August 10th. Background check required.

MENTEES ages 8 to 22 years of age. No experience necessary. Just need a passion and love for the arts.

6th Annual Future Stages Festival

The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts will continue celebrating young, talented Kansas City artists at the 6th annual Future Stages Festival on Sunday, June 16, 2019. This FREE community festival showcases hundreds of young performers on the Kauffman Center stages, and guests can enjoy a wide-range of diverse performance styles and engaging arts activities.

Since 2014, Future Stages Festival has:

  • Featured 3,000+ youth performers

  • Highlighted 60+ community arts performance groups

  • Welcomed 25,000+ guests

  • And presented dozens of arts activities for guests of all ages

Ziggy's Creative Garden Series!

Let’s Build a Birdhouse

Ziggy's Creative Garden Series presents Birdhouse creations! You will be given one birdhouse to build then paint. Take home and watch the birds flock and feed.

Bonus!! We have left over clay pots! So please come and paint a pot & plant your herb. All free. 1 per student.

The in-house garden will be cared for by our LAF mentees/mentors while in the space.

Limited space. Ages 5 to 18.

If you would like to Volunteer please let us know!! Would love your help! All ages.

Latino Arts Foundation is hosting a planting party! Come help us create "Ziggy's Creative Garden" in the Foundation space! We will be given dirt to add to pots and we will add herbs and flowers.
The in-house garden will be cared for by our LAF mentees/mentors while in the space.

What a great way to grow, nurture and watch a garden grow.

Charlotte Street Foundation welcomes Narciso Argüelles and C.J. Charbonneau curated exhibtion, Bricolaje, as the second visual arts exhibition in 2019 at la Esquina Gallery. Bricolaje explores the practice of artists engaged in creative strategies to interrogate the dominant narratives surrounding the ongoing immigration crisis.

Bricolaje is the first of two shows; one in Kansas City, featuring a group of Mexican and Mexican-American artists who incorporate traditional cultural elements into their work as a tactic to comment on issues of identity, legality, and belonging. A second iteration of the show will be featured in Oklahoma City will focus on the wider practice of Latinx artists grappling with these issues.

The show will run in Kansas City from Friday, March 15 through Saturday, April 20, 2019. Bricolaje is curated by Narciso Argüelles and C.J. Charbonneau. Artists featured include Narciso Argüelles, Patricia Bordallo-Dibildox, Lizbeth Contreras, Gabby Diaz, Joselyn Garcia, Mary Kuvet, Diana Lerma, Thomas Luna, Rodolfo Marron III, Rebekah Pech-Moguel, Fidencio Fifield-Perez and Kiki Serna.

Mentorship Program - Learn more & Sign up!

Come to the Latino Arts Foundation on March 9th between 11-12 pm to learn more about the mentorship program and to sign up to be a mentor or a mentee. The mentorship program consists of art, creative writing and Theater.

NO COST TO ANY MENTEE.

If you are an artist interested in mentoring this is the space for you!

If you are an artist, performer, writer, poet, aspiring to be all 3 and/or just want to learn more about any of the art genres this is the space for you!

We welcome everyone starting at age 8. We welcome all cultures, backgrounds, experiences.....we just want our space filled with anyone who ever dreamt or is living the dream in the art world.

Latino Arts Foundation is a safe space inclusive of all the arts and artists. We are here to help support, guide and mentor artists of all ages and backgrounds. We strive to educate the history of the Latino & Chicano culture as well as all cultures to ensure the spread of inclusiveness within the arts in Kansas City.
